Summary
This is my first attempt at fanfiction, so I’ve tried to approach it with care.
I wanted to blend canon with a few alternate-universe elements and create a happier, meaningful ending. Since the series never explicitly shows Nick’s body, I chose to be creative and explore the parachute possibility. After all, the canon has already bent its own rules, so why not take it further?
Rather than having Nick reunite with June immediately after the landing, I wanted to give these star-crossed lovers time to heal and grow from their experiences in Gilead. Two broken people cannot truly love each other until they first learn to love themselves.
I also felt it was important to give Nick, a good and decent man, his own voice and agency. Their love may have been shattered, but by becoming whole again as individuals, a new kind of love can emerge between them, and I believe they are meant for each other.
This story will also explore themes of psychology, since healing is a vital part of rebuilding self-identity.Series

The Season 6 Episode 10 Handmaid's Tale finale, series closer, works best as a dream sequence of June Osborne's. That explains better the way important people in her life appear as if on cue, and then recede once their purpose-in-remembering is complete.
First - told from Luke Bankole's perspective, as he comes to terms with the way his wife, June, has so obviously moved well beyond the marriage which simply could not continue. By the time of the finale, it was not even a matter of Nick - Nichole's father was now gone. It was about the marriage, which had had no chance to survive Gilead, regardless of Nick.
Second - during the 13th Gilead Symposium, Professor James Darcy Pieixoto addresses 'the controversy' which invades the quiet halls of academic Gilead studies. It forces host Professor Maryann Crescent Moon (of the Department of Caucasian Anthropology) to 'pull the feed' on the international broadcast.

Summary
The relationship between Fred and Serena is interesting to me. They had a great, passionate love as evidenced by the flashbacks, and somehow, when Gilead came to be, their love became illegal--sex was solely for procreation, and since Serena had never gotten pregnant, the assumption was that she was barren. The demise of their relationship is a central theme of the first few seasons.
The other thing that fascinates me is Serena's extreme desire to become a mother--at any cost. And we do see her going through absolutely any lengths to secure herself a baby--selling off pieces of her soul at the same time.
These are just a few chapters that I was inspired to write when I read the pilot script of The Handmaid's Tale. There is some cannon included, but it's mostly off script.

After the attack that nearly cost June her life, she flees Toronto with her daughter, Nichole. The original plan is to take a train to Vancouver and then fly to Hawaii, but the fear of being separated from her family again overwhelms her, and she ends up staying in Vancouver—until, months later, something pulls her back to Toronto.
There, things seem calmer—or at least that’s how it appears—and she manages to rebuild a somewhat normal life with Luke and Nichole.
Until Nick's arrival turns her world upside down once again. -
