Rumi came to a still in front of a shop window, the flow of people parting around her. The glass was lit up brightly, displaying velvet boxes lined with engagement rings. Silver and gold bands caught the overhead light, diamonds flashing with every passerby’s movement.
Mira’s stomach dropped.
Rumi’s gaze lingered, her lips parting slightly in wonder as if she’d forgotten Mira was there at all. Then, almost too softly to be casual, she murmured out her thoughts.
“I like simple cuts… Something classic. Too flashy is tacky, right?”
