The toddler stomped the sand as the mer stretched his hand further away, out of reach for the upset kid.
"-Hmmmmm...How about, no."
Shanks throws the ball up in the air just to catch it back with his hand, watching the pouting toddler with a taunting smile.
Luffy could only watch as the mer held captive his beloved beach ball.
'This is too easy. I can't wait to hear the symphony of gurgling this snotty nose brat will make as I drag him under the foamy waves to the bottom of the sea.' Glee sparks in red eyes at the mental image.
Or Shanks is a probably (definitely) murderous mer. Luffy has no self-preservation instincts and goes "You are my friend now" and it's getting worse before it gets better
Or or Author craves Shanks and Luffy brotherly fluff fics and decides to make their own.

Ace made a small noise as he felt Marco’s hand on his lower back, ushering the two towards the bed. Shanks let out a slight laugh as he fell down onto the mattress, Ace looming over him. Ace basked in the way that Shanks’ face flushed over the second that he pinned his wrists next to his head, Marco reaching out and running his hand through red locks before it was twisting into it. “Say, what should we do to him, Ace?”
Ace hummed, leaning down at nipping at Shanks’ pulse point again. “I dunno.” He hummed, “He’s always been good about just taking it. Maybe… we should rip him apart piece by piece. Until he’s begging for it.”
“He did say he was ours to do with as we pleased.” Marco mused. “Maybe you can take him. Then I can…” He leaned in, his lips ghosting over Shanks’ ear, “Or we can take him at the same time… or maybe, we can fuck right on top of him.” He pulled away as Shanks shivered, his hands curling into fists as his nails bit into his palms. Marco hummed, looking over to Ace, “He’s probably never seen what your face looks like when you’re on the receiving end.”
