Holmes had known since he was young that he was unlike others, that he experienced no inclination towards romance or sexual congress. This had been an unshakeable truth for much of his life, and when they had been young, he had told his elder brother of his nature, after he had deduced that Mycroft also seemed disinclined towards relationships. Mycroft had confirmed that he held much the same nature as his younger brother, but they had not spoken of it again since then.
