Summary
Aventurine's flirting doesn't work on Dr. Veritas Ratio. Aventurine's smile doesn't stay in his head for hours on end. Aventurine's voice doesn't overshadow all the other sounds.
Yes, Ratio might be afflicted by an unforeseen affection, but it has nothing to do with the reality of their relationship. Aventurine treats people like chips in his grand games, he's void of empathy and definitely and absolutely under no circumstances would ever allow a romantic pursuit.

Summary
Following the Penacony-Aventurine Incident that resulted in a broken cornerstone, Dr. Ratio is called to give his version of events.
Though ostensibly forbidden from contacting each other while the investigation is being conducted, they find a way around it.
But texting is not enough, and Ratio worries that the solitude might do more harm than good, specially after Aventurine's brush with IX. So he takes matters in his own hands to change this.
