Summary
My name is Steven Rude.
Eight years ago, a failed terrorist attack on a mako reactor outside of the city of Midgar in a neighboring state left me clinging to my life from extreme mako poisoning. I was there to stop AVALANCHE but, more importantly, to save her. She told me that she could stop the attack, that she could put an end to it all. I begged her not to as it was too dangerous. She ended up saving my life, dragging me to safety while her cohorts escaped, leaving Shinra to decide her fate. The government decided to make an example out of her, sent her to a desert prison hell. I promised myself I would get her out, no matter the cost.
That's when Tseng came to me with a proposition. All I had to do was retrieve a government scientist that ran off with something dangerous and his "employers"--his true masters, not the Shinra administration--would grant my wish. To cement my cooperation, he tossed me my sister's locket. She had been missing for over a decade, leaving one night saying that she had discovered something "inhumane" that the government was doing. I never saw her again after that.
I accepted.
I wish I hadn't.

Summary
The Planet is, finally, starting to heal after almost being destroyed just a few years ago and, just like the Planet, the people involved have been healing too. Some cuts run deeper than others, however, and Reno finds himself still working through intense trauma and guilt that is brought to a head by a confrontation with Barret when he's simply trying to have a drink after a long day's work.
A story exploring the healing processes Reno and the others are going through after going through such intensely traumatic events and how these people who were once enemies can forge a path together in the new world.
Although this story is based after the events of the original Final Fantasy VII, and the Advent Children film, the characters are based on how they are in Remake.
Finally, just to forewarn that there are mentions of implied PTSD and PTSD symptoms in this story.
This honestly just started as me wanting to write an argument between Reno and Barret and escalated into, well, this. I hope you enjoy!

Based around the Sector 7 plate drop, this story explores the lead up to the mission, the mission itself, and the aftermath from the Turks' POV. How do they react to having to drop the plate, and what is the emotional impact on them afterwards?
Written for a female reader, this is a story with plenty of fluff and plenty of angst, generally a mature fic but rated explicit for the final chapter. Reno is an amazing character and great to write for - I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I loved writing it!
