Summary
When Dazai stumbles into the Lupin clearly ill and barely functioning, Ango and Oda silently agree to take responsibility for him. Dazai, of course, refuses help in his usual dramatic way until he starts to fall asleep mid-protest. Outside by the car, Ango runs a hand through his hair in exasperation, wondering if this is what parenthood feels like—and deciding he doesn't care for the stress. Yet, as always, he reminds himself he’s constantly stressed anyway.
“Just carry him,” Oda says plainly, as though it’s the most obvious solution.
Ango blinks. “Does he even like being carried?”
Oda only shrugs, maddeningly calm. “I’ve done it before. He didn’t complain.”
So between the rain, exhaustion, and Dazai’s feverish weight slumped in their arms, the two of them end up escorting him home for the night—begrudging caretakers to a man who never asks for help but desperately needs it.
