Summary
The room is quieter than the corridor, even with the door open, so Cuti’s ears have no trouble picking up the short, breathy sound of someone moaning. He whirls around and his breath stops, his mouth dropping open.
The room is occupied.
Cuti feels his heart stutter as he takes in the scene. The first thing he notices is the gleam of moonlight hitting bare skin. Two figures are twined together on the edge of the bed, one reclining on the mattress, the other kneeling on the floor at their feet. The moment his brain registers who he’s seeing, the drunk haze lifts from his mind, and he’s suddenly feeling entirely sober.
“Fuck,” he breathes.
