Christine Daaé saw no other way out of the situation in the catacombs, if she would spare Raoul's life, than to accede to the Phantom's wishes. And so the curtain rises on her new life as Madame Devereux, wife of Erik Devereux, erstwhile Phantom of the Opera. At first, the arrangement works out precisely as well—or rather, as poorly—as one might expect. However, as time goes on, the situation begins to change.
ABANDONED, but I have added an outline of where the story would have gone, as well as ~13,000 words of fragments have been sitting in my Madame Devereux folder for years.
