The sound of the Goddess’s chosen hero’s hard-soled boots against the stone flooring beneath his feet was the only sound as he entered the main room of the small temple-like structure. His footsteps echoed loudly, reverberating off the rounded walls and ceiling to fill the empty space that surrounded him.
He wasn’t sure how he had missed it to begin with, but near the center of the room, sitting directly in the sunlight that poured in through the open windows, was the small, unmistakable shape of a person.
