When did Mikey become such a damn pushover?
Well, probably the moment he realised that they're doomed. Seeing Leo show up here tonight, devastated and without hope, has shocked it into him anew. Damn, he used to be good at this. Used to know the exact joke to crack - and even if it didn't land, a groan or retort was better than silence or indifference.
He doesn't know how to comfort his brother anymore.
“You could tell me anything. You know that, right?” Mikey tilts his head to glance at Leo, who at least has the decency to look embarrassed for breaking the thread. “You could tell me what's going on in your life. Mundane stuff like what you had for breakfast. Heck, tell me a fart joke!”
Leo cracks a smile at that and shakes his head. Voice softening, Mikey utters, “Shell, you could have just sent me a note saying, ‘Hi Mikey, I'm not dead.’ That would have worked just fine.”Series

TMNTtober Day 3: Favourite Show.
Master Splinter kneels on the floor in front of the television display, a fresh pot of tea in front of him. His ears twitch as Leo moves, and he wordlessly reaches over to pour a second cup, turning to hold it out for his son. His fur has mostly healed, but there is still a slight discolouration there from the singed flesh beneath. It’s only noticeable if one is looking for it, but Leonardo is always looking.
For a moment Leonardo wonders if he's about to receive a comment from his father for being so surly lately, but it doesn't come. Instead, he says, “I do believe it is time for our show.”Series

April pauses, hands fully submerged in dishwater. Hesitantly she raises her head, hoping he’s talking about something else. But his eyes are still trained on her teenage houseguests, so she supposes they have to actually talk about it now.
He looks back at her, with an expression that’s hard to read. She isn’t prepared to give him the satisfaction of saying she knows exactly what he’s trying to say. Instead, she turns away and continues to scrub residue out of a coffee mug.Series

TMNTtober Day 1: Mutants.
“...We don’t know anything,” Raphael finally says, voice small and resigned. “Shell, I can’t wrap my head around any of it. You tripled in size. You had glowing eyes. You were drooling and roaring and trying to eat Mikey’s freakin’ leg.”
Donnie remembers very little of the events that transpired. He remembers the searing pain in his leg hitting breaking point - remembers the sound of bones and sinew crunching, popping, shifting as he grew, and remembers desperately trying to tell April and Casey to run far from him before something more sinister, more animalistic took hold.
Then it all gets very fuzzy.
“You scared us, Don. We were scared FOR you. What was I-” Raph’s voice cracks. He swallows. “What were we supposed to do if we couldn’t fix you up, huh?”Series
