"Reality robbed Bart of the teenage dream, and that was something he was willing to forfeit as an understanding of the burden of his very nature, so he did not bear a grudge for Reality ripping that from him. Bart forgave Reality for slaying his youth, and even forgave it for demanding his existence only so he could die to resuscitate it during its most dire need, because these were terms for which he agreed were morally just.
But even Bart had a limit.
Reality cast its final unforgivable offense when it decided to reshape itself into a new world bereft of the one person that made it brighter and better between the black and grey of its perpetual neutrality.

Bart goes on his solo trip to find Kon and save his friends from a cruel destiny at great cost to the timestream and contends with the Linear Men who desperately want to keep him locked up - at least he thinks he is alone until Time Trapper reveals themselves as an unlikely ally, with an even more unlikely identity.
