Squirrelflight’s posture relaxed and she let out a sigh of relief. “Sorry, am I interrupting any important patrols?” The ginger asked with a light playful tone. The tortoiseshell let out an amused mrrow and looked at the other she-cat warmly. “Not at all. You’ll never be an interruption for me.” Tawnypelt said with a gentle purr in her throat.

Hollyleaf is gone, leaving Jayfeather and Lionblaze to sort out their feelings without her, not just on her death and the prophecy, but on the lies of their parents. Perhaps, for one of them, a different perspective could aid in understanding what their role is in the world. Meanwhile Dovepaw, the true third cat in the prophecy, flounders as she tries to find out how to deal with the special powers that have always seemed natural to her and her boundless, and often unwelcome, empathy to those outside her borders. With Lionblaze and Jayfeather in no state to truly help her, she may need to work to help them first. And along the way, Dovepaw's sister Ivypaw seeks to understand why her sister has so much praise and focus in the clan when she's done no more than Ivypaw has, and the burning jealousy in her heart may just open a doorway for darkness to come in.
