The Avatars got bored, spending century after century in the spirit world. There was only so much to do, after all.
Korra was a breath of fresh air to them, forcing everyone to interact and get out of their own minds. Besides, she needed the distraction as well time to time. After one conversation, Korra decides her new distraction will be figuring out the true nature of the relationship between the first Avatar and the spirit he bonded with.
It was really their faults for interacting with her as much as they did. Was she not supposed to be nosy?
