Summary
This book is a lore book for my OC Dola San. As usual with my lore books, I try to make them as canon compliant as possible and they usually revolve around some aspect of the lore that I am insane about. Dola was conceived as a vehicle for my obsession with Mercury and whatever the hell was going on there. Dola has an unfortunate incident at the start of the Red War and her life takes a very wild turn. Features bizarre cultists, an exasperated Ghost and a woman who has everything wrong with her.
This is a finished work, written between September 2023 and November 2024. It's also the first book, separated in three sections; all will be posted together.
The most important real lore for this whole work is the lore book Trials and Tribulations, so reading that would be recommended, but I will also provide commentary and references in the end notes of each chapter if applicable. Yes, even my fics have footnotes and references.
I'll warn for any violence and stuff, but it's generally as it would be in-game.

Saint knows exactly what they mean, that they are far from being prophecies or philosophical works, and he may never live down the mortification.

“Quit it.” Drifter snaps quick, and takes the best baked good in the box and hands it to him. “I am eating them, you know.”
Vance laughs, but it’s seemingly meant for himself. His hand drops away from the box and goes to take his own. He looks fake, Drifter thinks. Like one of Osiris’ weird reflections instead of walking and breathing. The impression is exactly what Vance wants to give. What impression Drifter’s given, he can’t really tell anymore. So he decides on starting a new one. Vance’s hand is kept in his as he begins to dig through the box with the other.
“This planet is miserable.” He states, blunt as he can.
“ — And I am devoted.”
For Vance, it is as easy to say as breathing. So Drifter remains cautious in his movements, moving hip to hip with Vance but ever watching./
It's the Dawning, and Vance takes care of those he finds walking through Mercury. Drifter happens to be there on a constant basis for the Sundial.
