Summary
Scott wasn’t entirely sure how he got roped into driving with Hope to the pet shelter that Saturday morning to adopt a cat on his day off. They had double checked the rental agreement and texted the landlord, and gone to the pet store to buy a bed and food bowl, and made sure the plants they kept on the windowsill weren’t toxic.
If he went back to the root of it all, it went back to Hope, who had found photos of the pet cat she had had for years, who she adopted right out of college and who had passed away shortly before she had met Scott.
“You know, it would be nice to adopt another,” Hope had said.
And you know what, he couldn’t say the news about the influx of animals into shelters during the Blip didn’t make him sad too.
