Gale was a beta. He only needed Astarion’s pillows and blankets because his body ached from sleeping on the ground. Surely it wouldn’t kill the vampire to part with a few comforts?
Alternatively: Gale has an uncharacteristic bout of thievery and Astarion, like a hypocrite, confronts him for it.
