Summary
Stede is invited to a dinner party with her mysterious benefactor Ben Hornigold. Soon, she discovers that the rules of polite society don't quite apply here...
Ben leans closer to Stede, a conspiratorial smile on her face. “You’ll have to forgive Jack. She can be a little overeager sometimes. Like an excited puppy. No matter how many times I tell her to wait, she simply gets too excited and forgets all about her patience.”
“Hey,” Jack grumbles. “I can still hear you.”
“I know, love.” Ben is now so close that her lips nearly brush the shell of Stede’s ear, warm breath creeping over Stede’s skin as she speaks. “But can you fault her for getting a little carried away when you look good enough to eat?”
