Summary
Ben sat against the couch, on the floor. He took a deep breath, but that didn't stop the tears from spilling out of his eyes. He'd thought that maybe he and Charlie could be friends, but now he couldn't see that ever happening. He hugged his knees to his chest, resting his head on them.
He had about two minutes of quiet before he heard footsteps coming close to him. He didn't lift his head.
"Ben?" Luke's voice.
"What?" His voice cracked embarrassingly. He didn't want Luke to see him like this.
"Hey, are you crying?"
"No. I'm doing the opposite of crying. It's very masculine."
He could almost hear Luke's majestic smile at that response. He felt the couch moving as Luke sat down next to him on the floor. "Crying isn't something to be ashamed about. Everyone does it." He tentatively put a hand on Ben's shoulder. "Very manly."
