Shauna has never felt so sick in her life.
There is no plausible way that it can be who it sounds like on the other side of the phone. Right? She should be in Switzerland in some fucked up white-walled unit being pumped full of electricity and drawing deer on the walls in her own blood. It’s incredibly unlikely that it’s her and honestly, does it even really sound like her? It’s been almost a decade. There’s no reason she would call. She’s in a mental hospital. The problem is, no matter how much she tries to lie to herself or rationalise it away, it would take Shauna a lifetime to forget the cadence of Lottie Matthews.
