Summary
“What the fuck, Buck. Look at us! We don’t do this, man. You can’t just up and leave after things get hard!” Eddie wasn’t sure how to stop being angry, how to not put everything on Buck, but his best friend leaving sure wasn’t helping.
“Oh, but you can?” Buck snarled and Eddie looked at him in disbelief.
“You…No. We’ve been over this. I know that you don’t think that I…” Eddie was lost for words but Buck quickly started speaking instead.
“That you what, Eddie? That you didn’t leave? That you haven’t changed? That we haven’t changed? Because we sure as hell did. And El Paso wasn’t the first time you did it. It is your fucking thing."
Or
In the midst of their grief, Buck and Eddie fell out of their usual rhythm and went into two completely different directions. After a fight that took way too much from both of them and after the news that Eddie and Chris are staying in LA, Buck decided to move out and leave this thing between him and Eddie behind.
Or
Buck and Eddie have another divorce era right after the events of s8e17. We ignore everything that happened after that episode. Chris is a sweetheart, Maddie Buckley-Han is amazing and Tommy is only here as a plot device.

Ravi unwraps his arms around her so he can cup her face with both hands.
“I love you May Grant-Nash. With all I’ve got” Ravi says, smiling right back at her.
Or
May and Ravi started dating a couple of weeks before Bobby died, leading through season 9. -

Summary
Bobby died and Eddie left. Bobby died and Eddie left. It was like those words repeated in his mind over and over. Nothing was the same any longer. The thought of working at the 118 made Buck feel like his chest was caving in and he couldn’t breathe. Sure Hen, Ravi and Chim were there but the feeling of home was gone. Buck didn’t even know if he wanted to be a fire fighter anymore. He didn’t feel the joy or purpose any longer. The fire had burned out, no pun intended.
Or
What if Bobby really did die and Eddie did leave to go back to El Paso? What does Buck do when everyone leaves??? He packs up and runs away only to come back 3 years later. A changed man with a daughter. Will he and Eddie be able to figure their shit out and finally get their happy ending? Of course they will because this is my story and only HEA's are allowed. Though the first chapter is pretty sad so you are warned.

Summary
‘Yes,’ she said and something in Eddie broke at that. Or maybe, it slotted together, like puzzle pieces. ‘I think your name would be Edmundo.’
‘But- Abuelo?’
‘I think you’d carry on his name well,’ she said, cupping his cheek, pushing the short strands of Eddie’s hair out of his face. ‘It means defender.’
‘Defender?’
‘Ah, you protect people- look after them, take care of them.’
Eddie felt his chest constrict, the breaths he sucked in short and shaking.
‘Sweetheart,’ Abuela said, her warm hand on Eddie’s cheek, pushing away the tears falling down his face. ‘Do you want to be Edmundo?’
Eddie stared up at her, the name settling around him like a well-worn, well-loved blanket.
‘Yes,’ he whispered, watching the smile stretch over his abuela’s face.
‘Then you will,’ she said, kissing his forehead.-----
Eddie Diaz and the mortifying ordeal of being known and knowing yourself. A season eight rewrite.

Summary
'I think you already have that life, don't you think?'
He shakes his head.
He doesn't. His wife is dead. He's the widower of the woman who wanted nothing to do with him. The woman who was relieved to not be pregnant. The woman who had run away from him when he wasn't a good husband.
'Nobody's perfect, Eddie.'
He knows that.
"What do you know?" he asks the air—to the familiar voice in his head. "You're dead."
He blinks, taking a deep breath to steady the rhythm of his chest. He's crying, he realizes. When did he start? Was it the moment he returned to the spot? The moment he sat? The moment he thought about the many ways he failed her?
Maybe it was the ways he is still failing her.
It's Dia de Muertos, and Eddie has a long day.

Bobby had spent his life waiting to die. Suffocated by guilt and the weight of his career, he had always imagined his death as a quiet moment—perhaps not a happy one, but at least peaceful.

Or alternatively:

Summary
“Eds?”
Eddie hums without opening his eyes. “Yeah?”
“You ever think about… adopting?”
That wakes him up. His eyes blink open, brow furrowing slightly. “Adopting?”
Buck twists around, meeting his gaze. “Yeah. I was talking to Hen this morning about Mara—about how they went through everything to get her back, and it just got me thinking.”
Eddie sits up slowly, his expression thoughtful but guarded. “Thinking about what exactly?”
“About us,” Buck says, the words tumbling out faster now that they’ve started. “About maybe adding to the family. Not right now…but eventually. I just… I think we’ve got more love to give, you know?”
Or

Summary
“A week,” Eddie sighed. “We can do this, right?”
Eddie’s gaze was pleading, needing assurance and comfort. His eyebrows were pinched in the middle of his forehead and Buck wanted to reach out and smooth it out with his thumb. Instead, he said, “’Course we can. We’ve faced tsunamis, beenados, earthquakes, broken dams… hey, where do we think the Diaz Parents Staying For A Week ranks?”
“Most likely to end in death,” Eddie muttered.
Buck clicked his tongue as he pulled the bowls from the cabinet for the salad, “That’s the lightning strike, actually.”
or
The Diaz parents showing up unexpectedly to the shared Buckley-Diaz household leads to some unexpected confrontations, late night conversations, and over due confessions.
