Summary
Lucien isn't exactly sure how he managed to get the spelled mask off of his face but he isn't about to complain about it. Not when he's got a new job to do. Check on the Archerons so Tamlin can grant Feyre some peace of mind. Easy enough, but when he encounters the middle daughter Lucien is dumbstruck for the first time in many decades. Justifying it as being able to keep tabs on the family Lucien accepts a security position for the family, reporting back to the Spring Court when he can while he attempts to figure out why his instincts call him to Elain's side.
Elain can't believe what the universe has handed her when a gorgeous and charming young man from her aunt's estate agrees to work for her father as security for their new home. She's never been one to stumble over her words but Lucien seems to knock the wits out of her with every beautiful smile. More than that though, she finds herself enjoying every moment with him. Whether it be escorting her into town on errands or dancing in the first rain of Spring, she can't seem to keep her heart in check. But he seems determined that he'll have to leave and try as she might to prepare herself she doesn't know if her heart will be able to take it when the time comes.
