Summary
Taking a deep breath, I took a running leap off the flat rooftop. For a moment, I am flying, my heart suspended in my throat as my body is soaring through the air and climbing higher and higher, and then I plummet, called by gravity as is all else but the birds that circle above. That isn’t entirely true; even birds need to land eventually, and there rarely are any in the Capitol anyways. No pigeons cooing, no crows crying, no doves mourning, and no robins chirping. The humanness in the Capitol has driven them out. I call them humans, but perhaps that isn’t true either—could they still be considered human, when their skins are every color of the rainbow? When they’ve given up everything that has made them human?
Dick Grayson was eight. His parents died when they fell. He is an orphan, one of many in District Five.
Dick Grayson is fourteen. He is reaped for the Third Quarter Quell.
Dick Grayson is sixteen. He is adopted by Bruce Wayne, one of the Capitol's key players.
