Summary
‘To be alive’ and what exactly it meant was something Childe had been thinking about for as long as he could remember. He knew what it meant to ‘survive,’ but that came with a hollow feeling that indicated something was missing and would be missing until he found it.
There was only one time in all the lifetimes Childe lived that he hesitated to kill a vampire. One time, one moment that ended up costing him that first life.
The last thing Childe saw was the face of the demon that made him doubt himself and his reason for being. As he closed his eyes, he vowed to find that face again in every subsequent life he was born into. He vowed to find the person who looked down on him as he took his last breath under that watchful moonlight.
He vowed to be the person to finally put an end to the immortal’s cursed existence, no matter how many lifetimes it would take him.
