Summary
Inej is back in Ketterdam after shunning the city for years. After the death of Kaz, she hasn't been able to set foot there. But now a higher cause is bringing her back, but that doesn't make it any easier. Inej will have to face the loss of the love she lost and, most of all, stay alive to see her mission through. In all of this, she finds an old ally who doesn't want to be found.
Matthias has been stuck in Kettedamn since that awful day when Nina was killed. He is stuck in his way and stuck in his grief. He has long ago shunned the only friends he had and moves through life being alive but not living. But one day a ghost from his past crashed back into his life, and even Djel seems to put them in each other's path.
