The Moon and Sun. An irreplaceable duo.
The Sun casts its light on the moon, and the moon shines. Happy and bright for humans across earth.
This connection used to be shown in the heavens too, a love so divine it was loved by mortals and immortals alike. All kinds of beings admired the beauty of this love.
This is a love that is missed and will be missed for eternity by the heavens.
In tribute to this connection, let me tell you their story.

Summary
One thing George had learned over the course of working and interacting with pure-blooded deities was that they had past lives, and they remembered their past lives. Those who were born as deities were something special in their past lives. This didn’t apply to the mortals, who were simply immortalized once they became deities.
It was a chance thing, really. Chance or fate. Deities from Earth were chosen based on absolutely nothing, and George had just happened to get chosen as a replacement for the Moon deity. The Universe had nine minutes to replace the Sun and Moon that loved, and George was so conveniently placed in Brighton where it chose from.
He couldn’t tell if he lucked out, or if he’d accidentally walked under a ladder on the way to school that day.
Or, George is a half-mortal Moon deity chosen by chance, and he's almost certain that he recognizes his godly coworker.
Turns out, the feeling's mutual.

“I want to kiss you,” Dream announces suddenly, then frowns at the sigh that drags between George’s teeth.
“It’s too early for that, darling,” he responds, disheartened, fingers slotting together over his torso whilst fiddling and tapping at his knuckles because he knows if left alone for too long they will start to reach out for Dream on their own. “It’s not our fault that we’re bound to the cosmos.”
“I wish we weren’t.”

Summary
The sun god was always intrigued by his moon. They were created to be counterparts, to perfectly rival the other. Dream brought the warmth of day, while George offered the cool relief of night. Tonight was the solar eclipse, which meant the two would cross paths for the first time in years.

Summary
The universe said the god of the moon belonged to the night. They're cold, distant.
The universe said the god of the sun belonged to the morning. They're bright, optimistic, and maybe a great deal too good for George.
Perhaps it won't work out in this lifetime. So what? They can try again in the next one.
Because the universe said that they are love. So love they shall.

Summary
“And all was well when the Sun loved the Moon. One day, dear, you’ll meet your moon, and realize how you were written in the stars, carved into the clock of father time. One day, Dream. One day.”
Or, Dream is the prized sun of stars, born into gold and status who would tear down the world for his moon.
