Summary

Despite being an island famed for its dragon killers, isn't it strange how no empire, no country has launched a crusade to kill dragons themselves? To take over the job and be done with it?
For centuries, Berk has enjoyed guaranteed sovereignty. The cost to being free from these crusaders? Kill the dragons and keep them away from flying south to the Mainland. Be the shield that keeps dragons from flying south, so that the great Empires look away.
Berk's closest ally in this delicate peace has always been the Marius family. Their official business is trade. Their real job? Presenting Berk's 'proof of work' to the southern Empires, maintaining the balance of power through information and coin.
