Once upon a time, B had been—was still—a god. Once, he had commanded winds to break pirate fleets. Once, he had seen the fear in an army’s eyes when they heard the faintest mention of his name. Once did he possess a body of immaculate proportion, as sturdy as the earth he carved. Once did he have lightning in his very veins, powering his every move with how much it begged for a release, for something to power. Once, his maw could’ve swallowed the whole world— and now the punch he struck against the apartment wall could barely dent it.
