Summary
Based off of a comment and the post it was under. TW: self-harm (doesn't happen during the story; it's talked about)
Throughout the summer, Dipper has been injured both emotionally and physically. Despite his efforts to hide it all and act like he was completely fine, it was clear he wasn't. Stan kept his distance, not wanting to step over any boundaries. Surely Dipper would say something if he needed to. However, after seeing him passed out with blood covering his arms and Mabel refusing to tell him anything, Stan decided it was time to step in a little bit.
