Alodie looked at his features. Knowing he was terribly handsome and well-dare she say he was beautiful in her eyes.
Her face softened hearing him mumble in his sleep. Gently, she dragged her fingers across his face, admiring it.
The nurse knew it wasn’t hers to witness alone. That she didn’t have the privilege of being able to hold him close like this. Granted, he was her friend. But nothing more. And Alodie knew it would stay that way.
But for some reason. Her heart still ached for the impossible.
Glancing over his hand with his wedding ring that laid across his chest. Something more bitter awakened in her seeing the ring, a grave reminder why she couldn’t have him. She placed her hand over his wedding ring. To cover it on purpose.
And then she looked at Caz’s face again. Looking so peaceful.
Her lips quivered again. “Please…please Caz wake up. Please…”
