Summary
Mizu senses his approach more than she hears it. She feels Taigen’s arms wrap around her, one gently plucking the brush from her hand. He pulls back, taps the brush on her shoulder to remove an excess globule of ink—so very mannish to immediately default to her as an object, she thinks briefly—then breathes in sharply at the unexpected cold touch of the brush to her nape. For a while, they are silent as he adorns her body in written wisdom.
She can’t tell if it’s the heat from her makeshift forge or if it’s in her head, but her entire body feels very, very, hot.
Taigen stays, but he does not forgive so easily. Mizu offers a display of penance.
