Summary
“A week,” the girl says when he asks how long he’s been… here. Wherever ‘here’ is exactly. “Almost two."
Her eyes are soft with sympathy and understanding. Her voice is heavy with the weight of having repeated something over and over. Her hair, soft and blue and falling just past her chin, is haphazardly tucked behind her ears and held in place by small sprigs of blue-white flowers.
She’s very blue, he thinks, absently. From her hair to her eyes to her clothes. He hopes she likes blue. He thinks it would be sad to be so much of a colour you didn’t like.
He wonders what colour he is. Then he shakes his head slightly. He’s pretty sure that’s not how it works.
(He hopes he’s a bright colour. He doesn’t like the dark much.)
