Summary
Ariel hesitates, and Jamie’s hand reaches out and grabs the necklace before Ariel can stop him. He twists it in his grasp to make it dig into Ariel’s neck, cutting off his air supply.
Jamie is amazed the dainty little thing hasn’t broken, but he’s not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Instead, he looks his brother in the face as he struggles to breathe.
“How do you like it now?” Jamie asks, unhinged from fear for Layla and Frankie and willing to cross all kinds of lines to protect them. “How do you like it now that you’re at my mercy?”
