Summary
Eight years ago, Jack Wynand and Liam Donohue (previously known as the suspendered revolutionary Atlas) escaped the underwater city of Rapture, a little girl named Blue clinging to their hems. As anyone with ghosts knows, however, you cannot outrun them for long. Girls are going missing across the world's shorelines, and as much as the little family would like to bury their heads in the sand, the lighthouse beckons, Rapture's mouth open wide to swallow them once again.

When Fontaine had mentioned that his Ace in the Hole was a mentally conditioned puppet that would jump if you told him how high, he’d expected some kind of mindless drone. Or at least not someone who had so much to him. Without saying a word, Jack’s eyes spoke for him, the tilt of his brow or the curve of his lips betraying every emotion.
It just didn’t fit. Atlas didn’t know what the hell to do with this.

That story is still in progress, and I highly recommend giving it a read! This story will moderately follow the final portions of that fic’s AU, which will be released sometime in the future! ))
The memories haunt them all, and serve as a constant reminder of their shared guilt and remorse. Frank begs for forgiveness, but for Jack, it can’t be that easy. Not anymore.

Thanks to the exercise and touch, he managed to calm down, and when the feeling of the kicks stopped, he leaned against the bench and wrapped his left hand around his stomach, starting to massage again. This time with calmer movements.

Summary
When Jack arrives in Rapture, it's hard not to latch onto the first voice of reason he hears. Atlas is an invaluable resource, guiding him along via radio on a wing and a prayer. If the man's steadfast refusal to dwell on misery or morality seems a bit ill-fitting at times, Jack isn't complaining-- it certainly goes a long way in keeping them both sane. The plan is simple: Atlas's his family from where they're trapped in the bowels of the city, and escape.
And that's when, some might say, fate intervenes-- and Jack finds himself seeing double.
