Alex frowned at his reflection. Tilted his head. Narrowed his eyes.
It had been a long time since he had studied his own body like this–nothing good had ever really come of it, and he had outgrown the urge to scrutinise his imperfections years ago. There was no use in getting upset over things that only mattered to himself.
But now, he felt… off.
His clothes had been a bit tight lately. He hadn't noticed, too caught up in, well, everything, until he had undressed for the day and scratched blunt nails along the red, angry marks his breeches had bitten into the soft skin of his stomach, and since when was that an issue?
He looked down at himself. Back at his reflection.

“I’m so bored,” Alex groans. He flops down on the couch next to John, head resting by his lap, feet hanging over the armrest. He reaches up, fiddles with one of the strings on John’s sweatshirt.
They don’t end up leaving the house that night, but they do sit on the couch and talk for hours, John’s laptop pushed aside as he regales Alex with stories of his childhood. Alex absorbs every minute of it, laughing and asking questions, chiming in occasionally with stories of his own.

The way he had kissed in the beginning, tentative and unsure, the way he hadn’t quite known where to put his hands, where he was allowed to put his hands, and, well- the way he flushed red every time John undressed in front of him.
