The question is unexpected, as she’s never made mention of it before, but not altogether strange, so Link continues to fix up their things as he answers her question.
“I cut my hair myself, Princess. It’s not my prettiest work, but it gets the job done of keeping it from getting too long and in my way.”
Zelda hums at his response in the way that she does when she is thinking a problem over and looking for a solution. At this, Link wagers a peek back at Zelda as he finishes putting away the bag into its corner on a shelf nearby and he sees her chewing on her lip like she does when she is working on a piece of Sheikah technology.
“What’s wrong, Princess?”
A sigh escapes her mouth.
“I want to cut my hair, Link.”

Zelda asks Link to cut her hair as she recounts the stares and whispers from a hundred years ago that have followed her into the Hyrule of the present.
