Summary
James and Sirius are flat hunting in Edinburgh after taking a gap year travelling the world on motorbike. They find unlikely lodgings in a former B&B decorated in arts-and-crafts-revival style, with a peculiar landlord – or really, leaseholder, as he likes to rephrase.
Several years of mid-20s coliving shenanigans ensue, with budding friendships turned into warmer feelings, but unfortunately not at the same time. Much unrequited, uncoordinated pinning to follow in this slow burn wolfstar (centric) + jily (side) + dorlene (side)!
The story is structured in a series of flashbacks spanning 5 years, interspersed by "present" timeline scenes which include short text conversations (odd chapter numbers), cueing up the events from the much longer flashback "past" chapters (even numbers).
