Summary
Hating the strategic (suicidal, self-flagellating) part of his brain more than ever, speaking slowly but confidently even as he hoped the words that came out of his mouth would be an entirely different safe, victory-assuring plan of action than the one he was thinking of. No such luck, however.
“Looks like you have a date with Kipps, Luce.”
Lockwood wished he could take the words back as soon as they were out. The immediate (cute) scrunch of disgust of Lucy’s nose comforted him a little but it too quickly began to turn into a look that meant she was about to lay into him, and he’d deserve it.
Or: Lucy has to go on a date with Kipps for a case and jealousy and shenanigans ensue
