  Viggo's Hunters capture Hiccup when he's least expecting it. In pain from his amputation site and burn scars, Hiccup has been drinking.

  Viggo takes advantage of the younger man's inebriation, and learns more about the lead dragon rider than Hiccup would have ever willingly shared with the Hunter chief.
