Summary
After a series of misfortune, the gang finds themselves cold, broke, and otherwise down on their luck. Arthur notices everyone's dwindling spirits, particularly little Jack. Despite what he'd said about being helpless himself, he takes it upon himself to organize something to bring everyone's spirits back up.

Arthur leaves them be, reflecting, pondering. Jack won’t cheer up so long as the camp is all gloomy. Mood around camp won’t get better unless they get out of here; or unless they’ve got something to bring their spirits up. Though what could do the job?
Just then he hears laughter. Loud and annoying and clearly coming from Sean Maguire. Javier jerks awake from where he sat at a table slumped over, knocking a bottle over and cussing. Following that is the sound of Pearson calling out. “Food’s ready!”
Food. Booze. Sean. A series of ideas smack him in the face and suddenly, Arthur Morgan has a plan. -

Wordlessly, John sat down next to Arthur on the log he was sitting on. He rubbed his left hand tiredly at his eyes, using the other to keep the thin, scratchy blanket wrapped around him.
“Heard from Hosea you wasn’t feeling good,” Arthur pointed out. He could tell John’s skin was a bit paler than normal, his breathing more labored.
John stubbornly shook his head. “‘M alright. Jus’ needed a nap, ‘s all.” Christ, the kid sounded like he’d been swallowing glass, and that was saying something considering John’s voice had always been a bit raspy. -

"Of course, we wouldn't go through with any plan like that if it got them caught in the crossfire."
"I'll go speak with him, let you know how it goes. How about you go start helping folk around here pack up and check on the elders and wounded if you can? They set up the people injured by Fort Wallace in the tents surrounding the fires." Clapping a hand on Arthur's shoulder, his hand lingered for a moment before Arthur's sudden nod signaled that he understood what Charles was speaking about. Charles turned and began walking off to find Rains Fall and Eagle Flies, it hadn't been long enough for either of them to be resting, even after all the excitement of the earlier events of today.
Arthur's mind seemed to finally catch up with what was going on. What was going to happen now with the choice he made. With what just happened between them. Arthur's face flushed as he decidedly did not keep thinking about Charles' smile, the ghost of his hands on his face, and the heat it brought in such stark contrast against the biting cold air of the mountains. What he succeeded in was leaving to care for some folk without being too distracted to be helpful.
