Summary
She should’ve moved—retreated back to the house and reported her loss for their files, but she stood still, allowing herself to turn into captured prey, something she already was. It was against everything she trained for.
It took no time at all for the vampire to press themself up against Kit’s back, those unkind lips and sharp fangs a mere breath away from her trained ear. And strangely, very much like a fool would, she didn’t think they would bite her.
“Good job,” they whispered, their warm breath fanning the shell of her ear and she fought back a shiver. A woman, she realized then. “I might reward you next time if you don’t hesitate. There are dangerous creatures in the shadows.” The sharp tip of a claw nicked her cheek, spilling blood down the slope of her cool skin.
She expected the woman to wipe it away, wrap her lips around her coated finger to savor the taste of Kit’s blood, run her tongue over the warm red, or to take directly from the source, swipe her tongue over the open skin, making a snack out of Kit, but she didn’t.
