Hearth was someone who couldn’t look at the world and see anything other than numbers. Values. Expenses and paychecks. He remembered looking in his bedroom mirror, trying not to catch glimpses of the red lists in the reflection, repeating sentences to himself over and over again like a mantra.“Everything you have is for someone else. Summary
Magnus Chase had always feared wolves ever since he was a kid. He had seen them hunting and howling in the woods near his house. Sincehe had died and gone to Valhalla, his fear had only heightened, especially after he had to fight off Fenrir, a giant wolf who was prophesied to bring about Ragnarok, the end of the world.
He always had nightmares about them and could never shake off the fear. But when he became a demigod and found out that he was the son of a Norse god, he thought that his fear of wolves would go away.
However, things were not that easy. His first adventure as a demigod was to retrieve the Sword of Summer with the help of his newfound friends Samirah al-Abbas, Hearthstone, and Blitzen. Magnus had never told anyone about his fear of wolves, not even his friends.

After the difficult night of Blitzen being challenged by Junior for the contest and telling Magnus and Sam about his father, Blitzen feels emotionally exhausted and retreats to his bedroom to try and find some peace.
As he does just that, Hearthstone also proceeds to regain his energy by sleep. However, when they wake up in the middle of the night, they suddenly remember what they were supposed to do the previous night.

When January rolls around, Magnus and Alex have to get ready for the storm. Surt's going to be coming for Sumarbrander soon and the rope holding Fenris is about to break. Add into that, an old friend makes her return in quite literally the worst way possible. At the very least Magnus can try not to get Sam fired this time.
