He looks out. Dark sky, scarlet clouds. Tries to put himself in Eddie and Dustin’s shoes. Pictures a swarm of bats on the horizon, getting closer, closer. Runs through all the imagined steps he thinks they could take—there, could one of them trip if…? They should give themselves plenty of time, just in case—
A stone bounces across the roof with a metallic clang, lands at his feet. He turns in the direction it came: Eddie’s climbing up, too.
