**ACOTAR rewrite bc I'm taking a step back from personal projects to focus on fanfic for a while again, and why not. I read these books with my grandmother at book club and now I have too many opinions and too much investment, so here we are. Listen, I hate to be one of those people- I really do- but I couldn't not *try*, you know? Yeah? Okay. Again- this is all just for fun please don't throw tomatoes at the fool.
A trick of the eye- a fear mechanism of some kind. Nothing could be that big… nothing. No normal animal. Which meant it wasn't an animal at all- but a creature. A monster of the woods, prowling too far south for comfort. I couldn't help the shudder.

What had I done?
I dropped the bow.
Blood seeped into the knees of my trousers, and I think it was that that reproduced the soup from the pit forming in my stomach. Bile in my mouth- acid in my throat- a hot irony wash the same temperature as the ooze against my knees. A muscle twitched the moment I reached out- its paw was as big as my head- maybe more.
I'd drawn my knife before I realized it was in my hand.
