Chip decided that when he got back to the ship, he’d just go back to bed, pretend that none of this ever happened and force himself to deal with the consequences in the morning. Because of course, there would be consequences. Chip never could get away with something without them.
There would be consequences when Price got out of his paralysis. There would be consequences in the morning when he’d have to pay Amber back. There would probably even be consequences the moment that he got back on their ship. Jay and the rest of the crew would be wondering where he had been.
Then Chip would have to explain how he went off to do the dangerous thing on his own despite them agreeing on what dangerous thing they were going to tackle first together.
