Alex is a rising gridball star with a lie that spiraled: he told the press he had a small-town girlfriend. He didn’t expect to come home and catch his actual girlfriend cheating on him with a redheaded artist. He also didn’t expect Penny—quiet, bookish Penny—to step in and pretend to be his girlfriend when two reporters showed up.
Now they’re fake-dating for the media. Penny lives in a trailer and doesn’t understand why someone like Alex would choose her, even just for pretend. Alex is trying not to fall for someone who looks at him like he's more than just muscle and a gridball jersey.

Shane is struggling with stress induced anxiety after the extreme life changes he has faced since the death of Jas’s parents. He hasn’t felt normal, let alone comfortable in a while.
The farmer, Claire, is dealing with major imposter syndrome and feeling lost since quitting her life in Zuzu City and moving to the farm. The weight of everyone’s expectations is haunting her and she needs someone to share it with and help her find her way.
These two find comfort in one another in more than one way. Shane struggles to be careful with that fragile relationship while Claire wants nothing more than to get lost in it.
*in this story, Shane is not as bad as he is made out to be, he’s just going through it and teetering on the edge of alcohol addiction. In fact he’s super hot, just troubled. So what, maybe I like a troubled hottie here and there !

A shaky breath escaped him. His fists clenched so tightly his knuckles went white.

Life felt mundane, and uninteresting even with magic. It wasn't the monotony of Joja, but it was becoming just as soul sucking. So, when she finds a strange black card in her mailbox from the mysterious "Mr.Qi", and realizes that there might be a lot more to this little Valley than she had originally thought, she's elated to start to unravel the deep buried secrets of her home. Unfortunately for her, there's a lot more than she bargained for, and more than she ever wanted to know.
