That was what their life became, a series of uncertain, confusing, misunderstandings that made them wary of each other.

At 25 years old, famed ice skater Victor Nikiforov faces a career-ending injury. While it doesn't stop him from skating again, it accelerates his lost interest in the sport. He goes to work as an editor for a winter sport magazine where he meets a cute anxious co-worker, Yuuri Katsuki.
Victor gets an email a week before Christmas that he's been invited to a Christmas Day Pairs Exhibition and is filled with interest for skating again. Only problem is he doesn't have a partner. That is until Yuri shows him a video of a mysterious skater doing his routine. Now Victor will do whatever it takes to find this skater to perform with him at the Exhibition.

In order for Yuuri to inherit the riches that her grandfather left her, Yuuri has no choice but find a sperm donor who can be compatible with her intersex genes, and she found one, in Viktor Nikiforov. She doesn't want sex, but she needs his seeds so she devises a plan to steal his sperm and she was successful.

Viktor's phone call with Yakov went about as well as expected. After ranting at Viktor for a solid ten minutes about his reckless behavior and lack of foresight, Yakov finally wound down enough for Viktor to get a word in edgewise and explain the situation. To Viktor's surprise, Yakov's tone shifted from irate to almost sympathetic once he heard about the online harassment targeting Yuuri.
"I still think you should have found a better way to handle it than blurting it out on the internet," Yakov grumbled. "But I understand the impulse to protect him. You're still an idiot, Vitya, but at least your heart was in the right place this time."
