Buck and Eddie first meet in 2016 when Eddie needs a partner to drive with him and his son from El Paso to LA where he's moving to be with his girlfriend and start a new life with the LAFD.
He doesn't think he and Buck are destined to be friends. They probably won't think about each other again.
Two years later Buck and Eddie run into each other when Eddie is at a cafe with his wife.
Buck wonders if this is the universe giving them a second chance to get to know each other. Neither of them take it.
Three more years pass by before they meet again.
Eddie transfers to the 118 after his divorce, and Buck's still mourning an unexpected breakup with his girlfriend… but this time, things just seem to click. -
