It started almost comically small. Jason dropped his helmet on the counter, let his jacket fall in a heap beside it without a word. He moved to the sink and almost mechanically filled a glass, drained it, filled another. His shoulders stayed tight the entire time, every line of his body coiled too tight to belong in a safehouse never mind a home.
Kon finally broke the silence. “Jay, you okay?”
Jason’s laugh was sharp. Humourless. “Define okay.”
