Summary
The war is over, but the scars remain. When Katara agrees to help rebuild the Fire Nation, it’s not out of compassion—it’s duty. Zuko has withdrawn since becoming Fire Lord, and now, they clash in new ways: politics, justice, and healing a broken nation. Tension grows—in glances, silences, arguments.
Then, an ancient tradition accidentally binds them in an unbreakable public engagement.
The scandal erupts. Aang breaks up with Katara. Sokka and Toph write, but she rarely answers. Isolated, Katara focuses on diplomacy—until she starts to see Zuko differently. And in an eclipse, trapped in a cave, Katara begins to understand just how much he's hiding—and how much she’s still running from herself.

Summary
When the next letter arrived, Zuko let it sit on his desk for a whole day before opening it, as if somehow Sokka would sense, a continent away, that he was still pretty pissed about Sokka trying to rope Iroh into this whole festival visit insanity. Finally, his point proven to literally no one except himself, Zuko waited until after a long bending practice, then a full bath, before he casually picked up the letter and broke the seal.
**
OR:
Zuko has been Fire Lord for six years when Sokka starts trying to convince him to attend the Spring Gift festival at Wolf Cove, and Sokka isn’t taking no for an answer.

Summary
She allowed a small smile to flicker across her lips, but it faded as she looked down at the notes again. “Zuko… you’re giving up everything.”
Zuko met her eyes, steady. “No. I’m giving them everything. That’s how I want to be remembered.”

Or 10 years after the end of the war, Katara helps Zuko transition the Fire Nation to a democracy under the guise of a formal courtship.
